The Malta Poker Festival was founded in 2018 by Ivonne Montealegre, its event director, after the organisers of the Battle of Malta parted ways, and its first edition was played at the Portomaso Casino in St Julian's in November 2018, with 1,366 entries in the Grand Event. It is independent, with no title sponsor, and the Grand Event is its centrepiece. The 2020 edition was cancelled and replaced by an online championship. It hosted the first Hendon Mob Championship in 2018. A national tour: every stop on record is played in Malta — St Julian's. We have 2 stops on record. It runs from April to October.
